No risk it, no biscuit

... or, in the words of the old Austro-American philosopher and founder of the New Work concept, Frithjof Bergmann: If you really know what you want, work doesn’t hurt and make you dissatisfied. Instead, your work is your contribution. It reflects the future of work, in which we don’t just undergo development, but courageously take on some risk and actively seek development.

“New Work helps people to finally address the question of what they really, really want.”

The global shift to remote work has revealed to millions of people that the traditional way of organizing work around presence and control is no longer necessary. Short-time work and profound changes in our economies have diminished the number of traditional wage labor jobs. When the Austro-American philosopher Bergmann first created the New Work concept, he applied it to the US automobile crisis. With his New Work approach, Bergmann challenged workers to determine what they wanted to do with their future work life if automation took away their jobs. As a thought leader, he initiated a global movement throughout the last decades. His concept of New Work has been passionately discussed ever since.

How does the corona crisis affect the definition, reality and future of New Work?
Bergmann believes that the education system will need to teach people to really find their identity rather than avoid their true self. No risk it, no biscuit!

Work we really, really want and a culture that strengthens us

Frithjof Bergmann – New Work, New Culture. Our work has been organized around the same “job system” we’ve had for about 200 years. While this system has always been problematic, it is becoming increasingly outdated. Many people are insecure and are turning to political opportunists. Facing the threat of collapse, Frithjof Bergmann discovered a different option. New Work, New Culture speaks about developing this alternative route and describes a way for humanity to attain a better life for everyone.
